How Does Food Shape Us?

V&A Museum

“How Does Food Shape Us?” was a community outreach project commissioned by the V&A families team which Maia embarked on over the course of seven months in 2024. Maia created a curriculum for young people rooted in art and design that was all about food - exploring it’s endless potential as a tool for connection and play while also learning about people and the world(s) we inhabit.

Maia delivered these sessions at various different community hubs and festivals in the boroughs of Hammersmith and Camden between April-November 2024, creatively archiving the sessions throughout.

The final zine came together as a family friendly resource that was celebrated with ‘BOOST’ festival, a day long festival at V&A South Kensington with a programme all about “How Food Shapes Us”. During this festival, Maia facilitated a fruit cheong (an ancient Korean preservation method) and mono-printing workshop. The resource is available at V&A South Kensington learning centre.
